Course Description

This workshop will teach all workshop participants fundamental negotiation skills, whether negotiating for a job, on behalf of your employer, orin yourpersonal life. Through assigned readings, media viewings, class discussions, participation in various simulations, and oral and written reflection on those experiences, workshop participants will improve their skills when negotiating.By the end of this workshop, participants will learn, among other things:" Basic negotiation concepts, such asreservation price, zone of possible agreement, and BATNA(best alternative to a negotiated agreement);" The phases of a negotiation, from preparation to reaching agreement;" Effective negotiation techniques and styles; and" Both adversarial and integrative bargaining approaches.
