Course Description

In this course, students will develop approaches to teaching integrated social studies curricula that meet New York State learning standards. Students will examine the social science disciplines and the importance of history in the curriculum for elementary students' understanding of democracy and citizenship. The use of technology learning and research in the social sciences is explored as well as methods of assessing knowledge in the social sciences. Two full days of fieldwork require, Tuesday and Thursday. This course is required of all Childhood Education majors.
