Course Description

The paralegal profession continues to expand both in number of employment opportunities and potential career paths. Having options in this dynamic profession empowers the paralegal. The Personal Injury Law Specialist Certificate Program is designed to enhance your skill and knowledge about specific areas of the law, increase your value to current employers, and expand your career opportunities. Violations of torts and breaches of contracts make up the overwhelming number of cases in civil litigation. As a paralegal, if you understand the elements of a tort, and what is applicable to each specific case, you will be an asset to the attorney. When drafting a complaint or preparing a brief to be filed in court, you will have the capability to recognize any potential tort claims. Required coursework includes Torts and Personal Injury Law and Laws of Evidence. Participants will have the opportunity to choose two elective courses in E-Discovery, Legal Ethics, Laws of Evidence, Advanced Legal Research, and Constitutional Law. This course is taught exclusively online. Participants will receive a Pace University Paralegal Specialist Certificate in Personal Injury Law. Please contact Continuing & Professional Education at (914) 773-3714 or ContinuingEd@pace.edu with any questions.
