Course Description

The paralegal profession continues to expand both in number of employment opportunities and potential career paths. Having options in this dynamic profession empowers the paralegal. The Family Law Specialist Certificate Program is designed to enhance your skill and knowledge about specific areas of the law, increase your value to current employers, and expand your career opportunities. In family law, the paralegal is often the main contact between the firm and the client. Due to this field being emotionally demanding, it is important for the paralegal to be supportive but remain neutral. In this course, you will learn how to effectively communicate to your client, navigate the legal process, and ensure that your client gets a fair hearing on the case. Required coursework includes Family Law and Juvenile Law. Participants will have the opportunity to choose two elective courses in E-Discovery, Legal Ethics, Laws of Evidence, Advanced Legal Research, and Constitutional Law. Participants will receive a Pace University Paralegal Specialist Certificate in Family Law.
